Sedation

Unfortunately, dental anxiety can keep many patients from visiting the dentist for checkups and much-needed dental work. When you don’t get the dental care you need, it can be difficult to avoid common dental problems like cavities and gum disease. Sedation dentistry provides relaxation so that you can go to your dental appointments successfully and anxiety free.

What to Expect

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
  • Laughing gas is administered using a soft nose piece
  • You will feel a little tingly and will start to feel more at ease within minutes
  • You are perfectly conscious and aware, but enjoy a nice state of relaxation
  • Once the dental procedure is complete, we put you on full oxygen and you will be ready to leave in a few minutes without needing someone to drive you
Oral Sedation
  • Very safe and effective oral medication, a benzodiazepine, is provided prior to treatment in order to induce a moderate state of sedation
  • Because the medication makes you groggy, you will need someone to drive you to and from the office
  • We will constantly monitor your pulse, blood pressure and oxygen levels to ensure your safety
  • You’ll relax comfortably into a state of conscious sedation and should not feel any pain or be aware of time passing during the procedure
  • You’ll be awake and able to respond to any instructions from your dentist
  • After the procedure is completed, your friend or relative will take you home where you relax for the rest of the day
